The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kollam, successfully organized a Legal Awareness Programme at NSS Law College, Kottiyam, focusing on two important social issues — Anti-Drug Awareness and Anti-Ragging Awareness. The programme aimed to educate students about their legal rights, responsibilities, and the importance of creating a safe and healthy educational environment.
The event was conducted under the theme "Access to Justice for All," reinforcing the commitment of the Legal Services Authority to spread legal literacy and promote social awareness among students and the public.
The programme was inaugurated by Smt. Rekha Laurian, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Kollam (Sub Judge, Senior Division). In her inaugural address, she emphasized the importance of legal awareness among youth and highlighted the role of students in building a responsible and law-abiding society. She encouraged participants to stay informed about their legal rights and actively contribute to creating a drug-free and ragging-free campus.
Conducted an informative session explaining the legal provisions against ragging, the rights of students, and the legal consequences of engaging in ragging activities. He stressed that educational institutions should remain safe spaces where every student is treated with dignity and respect.
Delivered a detailed presentation on the harmful effects of drug abuse, preventive measures, rehabilitation support, and the legal actions taken against narcotic-related offences. He urged students to make informed choices and become ambassadors of a drug-free society.








The primary objective of the awareness programme was to educate students about legal protections available to them while encouraging responsible citizenship. By addressing critical issues such as substance abuse and ragging, the programme sought to empower young people with knowledge that can help them make informed decisions and contribute positively to society.
